Hello, fight fans! As always, i’m your host, Rodrigo Oliveira, and i’ll be taking you for an up-close look at tonight’s FURY 1 card, that pitted lightheavyweight standouts Roman Hyatt and Patrick St. Cote against each other in the main event. There were submissions and knockouts a plenty for the fans that filled the seats at Wild Bob’s Bar in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lace up your gloves, bite hard on your mouthpiece and here we go!

MAIN EVENT

Roman Hyatt defeated Patrick St. Cote by Decision (Unanimous) (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

In the main event of the evening, Roman Hyatt remained undefeated in his pro career, as he outboxed fellow knockout artist Patrick St. Cote in all three rounds to take home a decision. The more effective striker from the get-go, Hyatt outlanded his opponent by a shocking 22-to-1 margin. “The Real Deal” did his best work in the final frame, where he dropped his Canadian opponent with a lunging punch. Although he pounced, the finish never materialized. St. Cote was effective with dirty boxing in the clinch, but his bursts of offense were few and far between.

CO-MAIN EVENT

The Hunter defeated Robert Owinashi by KO (Punch) at 0:05 of the 1st round.

In a featured heavyweight co-main event, The Hunter needed just five seconds to pick up an impressive knockout win over Robert Owinashi. Hunter cut his foe open with a straight right hand and polished “The Japanese Eagle” off with a searing uppercut to the jaw.

HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Evandro Santos defeated Chael Hendricks by Submission (Armbar) at 4:47 of the 1st round.

An unrelenting ground assault earned Evandro Santos his fifth straight win, as he submitted Chael Hendricks with a swift armbar from the guard seconds before the bell. Hendricks started out strong, pressing forward with punches and landing an exquisite spinning backfist. Santos kept his poise and ducked under a wild swing for a takedown. Once in top position, the Brazilian pursued leglocks with dogged determination, but ended up on the bottom after a scramble. As soon as Hendricks postured up, Santos was quick to grab hold of his arm and roll for the submission.

WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

Vinicius Ribeiro defeated Nick Diaz by TKO (Strikes) at 0:47 of the 1st round.

Ribeiro picked up his 4th win in 4 outings as a professional MMA fighter as he needed a little less than a minute to wipe out Nick Diaz in a featured welterweight clash. Diaz never got his foot into the fight, as he was largely confused by Ribeiro’s superior defense and boxing skills. Finally, the American was floored by an overhand right, and follow-up strikes forced the referee to call a stop to the contest.

MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT

Buddie Rivera defeated Richard Carneiro by Submission (Kimura) at 3:20 of the 3rd round.

Buddie Rivera proved he remains a top player in FF’s middleweight division, as he dominated Richard Carneiro en route to a 3rd submission win. “Domo” paved his way to victory with a steady diet of leg kicks and takedowns, forcing Carneiro into defensive mode for the majority of the contest. Eventually, the Academy 209 representative settled in side control and cranked a kimura, coaxing a tapout from his opponent at 3:20 of the final round.

HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Butch Coolidge defeated Ricardo Delivire by TKO (Strikes) at 4:58 of the 1st round.

Butch Coolidge added yet another knockout to his highlight reel – this time victimizing promotional newcomer Ricardo Delivire. Coolidge performed his usual dirty boxing routine with perfection, landing 32 of 33 attempted strikes in close quarters. Delivire eventually succumbed under a hail of punches and elbows, as Coolidge followed him to the mat and polished him off with strikes from the mount.

WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

Chinchin Chin defeated Gareth Wilcox by Submission (Armbar) at 3:46 of the 1st round.

Chinchin Chin wasted no time in dragging the more experienced Gareth Wilcox into his realm, as he scored a neat takedown into side control just seconds into their welterweight bout. From then on, it was Chin chaining together submission attempts and Wilcox doing his best to defend them all. Unfortunately for him, Chin was able to quickly spin into an armbar from side control and force him to tap.

LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Chuck Lindell defeated Ivan Drago by TKO (Strikes) at 0:49 of the 2nd round.

Lindell picked up his 4th finish in as many professional wins, as he punched out Ivan Drago in the second round of their lightheavyweight bout. “IceMan” had to battle the blood that was streaming down his face, courtesy of Drago’s strikes early in the first round. It was not a determining factor, however, as the Santa Monica-native peppered his opponent with accurate punches throughout, before finally finishing business with a counter right hand and follow-up strikes from full mount.

LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Aaron Patterson defeated Miguel Adams by Submission (Triangle Choke) at 2:38 of the 1st round.

Aaron Patterson handed Miguel Adams his 3rd loss in as many outings, as he choked him out could with a textbook triangle choke midway into the first round of their opening lightheavyweight tilt. Adams scored early with a pair of good punches, but Patterson quickly responded with a pair of takedowns. After a scramble, Adams ended up on top, but it was for naught as Patterson wrapped his legs around his neck and put him to sleep.
